As an e-journal, The Technology Source uses information technology tools to enhance professional communication on the issues, challenges, and opportunities provided by these tools to make educational processes more effective. This means that we can link to Web references so that you can immediately go to the source material. In our Interact! menu, we offer a discussion feature to enable you to respond to articles immediately, not wait for your response to appear in a letters to the editor column the next time the journal is published. We also offer easy print and email options, as well as access to previous articles in the section (e.g., assessment, tools, vision) via the "browse" button; additionally, with the "read related" feature, you can see the titles of articles related to the one you are currently reading and access them with the click of a mouse. In effect, we model the use of tools that make our work more efficient and effective.
In this spirit, we offered virtual office hours courtesy of OfficeHoursLive in our last issue so that readers could communicate with authors via their computers. We are offering a similar feature in this issue via HorizonLive, a related live interactive e-learning platform, and are focusing upon one or two articles each week throughout January and February. If you would like to join us, go to the schedule and click on "Sign Up Now" for further instructions and for registration (space is limited).
If you miss a scheduled session, the recorded version will be available via the "webchat" button in the article's Interact! menu. Please let us know what you think of the value of this tool in enhancing professional communication by emailing me or, better, by publishing your comments in our discussion option on the Interact! menu.
