Susan Hesemeier is a Metadata/XML Expert for the Distance Education Projects and Technological Help (DEPTH) department of Athabasca University. Her work has focused on computer-mediated communication (CMC) applications and documentation for educational technology, and the development of XML schemas and metadata for the Canadian Core (CanCore) Learning Object Metadata Initiative. She is currently responsible for the maintenance and development of documentation and XML bindings related to the CanCore Learning Object Metadata Application Profile.

Hesemeier currently is a candidate for an MA in humanities computing through the Department of Comparative Literature, Religion, and Film/Media Studies at the University of Alberta. Her research has focused on Internet-based forms of autobiography and comparative literary autobiography. Hesemeier earned her BA at the University of Alberta through the Department of English.
