Steven Kreis received both an MA and PhD in history from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He also holds a BA in philosophy and political science from Boston University. Kreis has been teaching European history for 14 years at various institutions in Florida and North Carolina. He developed the History Guide in August 1996 as a freelance project in conjunction with his teaching, and it is now in its sixth year online. He is also currently author of the online companion for the 14th edition of W. W. Norton's "Western Civilizations" text. Kreis also teaches part time at Wake Technical Community College
