International Consortium for the Advancement of Academic Publication (ICAAP)

Mike Sosteric is founder and director of the International Consortium for the Advancement of Academic Publication (ICAAP), a research institute and publication house that provides technological support and production expertise for independent scholars seeking to publish their own journals. Sosteric has founded and supported the development of many scholarly digital information projects, such as the first fully electronic and free journal of sociology, the Electronic Journal of Sociology (EJS). He manages the Distance Education Projects and Technological Help (DEPTH) department at Athabasca University and, through this academic computing unit, has been instrumental in providing the technological infrastructure for several key academic projects, including the Masters of Arts Integrated Studies program (MAIS) at Athabasca and the Campus Alberta Graduate Program in Counselling (a tri-university graduate psychology program).

His research has focused on using technology to provide opportunities to engage the world in a critical and transformative manner, and he works heavily with technology to find ways to enhance access to information and educational course delivery. Sosteric earned his doctorate at the University of Alberta. He is an assistant professor of sociology and educational technology for the Centre for Global and Social Analysis at Athabasca University.
