Jon Baggaley

Jon Baggaley is a psychologist specializing in the educational effects of communications media. As chair and director of educational technology at Athabasca University, he is responsible for the development of new media technologies and policy on the distance-based delivery of University programs. He previously taught at universities in Liverpool, Newfoundland, and Montreal.

Baggaley is author/editor of 10 books—including Dynamics of Television (with Steven Duck), Psychology of the TV Image, and Evaluation of Educational Television—and more than 200 articles on media research and evaluation. He was founding editor of the Journal of Educational Media (formerly J. E. TV). Baggaley has consulted on the design of educational media campaigns for government and broadcasting organizations in Canada, the US, Mexico, Brazil, the Dominican Republic, Britain, Germany, Laos, Norway, Russia, Ukraine, Kenya, South Africa, and Bangladesh. He is an associate fellow of the British Psychological Society and a member of the New York Academy of Sciences.
