H. Arthur Woods
Lecturer, Section of Integrative Biology
The University of Texas at Austin

Art Woods received his PhD in zoology at the University of Washington in Seattle in 1998. After a 3-year post-doc at Arizona State University, he moved in 2001 to the Section of Integrative Biology at the University of Texas at Austin. There, he has been teaching a non-majors biology course called Ecology, Evolution, and Society, which allows him to cover many of the fun and current topics in biology while avoiding the nitty-gritty.

When he is not teaching, Woods carries out research on physiological plasticity in insects, investigating such topics as how individuals respond to changing environmental conditions, how plasticity evolves, and how we can know when plasticity is adaptive. He currently is examining these questions in the context of oxygen and water vapor transport across insect eggshells.
