David P. Diaz
Division Chair: Physical Education and Athletics
Cuesta Community College

David P. Diaz has taught at Cuesta Community College, San Luis Obispo, California for 24 years and currently serves as the Division Chair of Physical Education and Athletics. During his tenure at Cuesta, Diaz has created and served as coordinator of the college Employee Wellness Program, was Assistant Director of Physical Education, served two years as president of the faculty Academic Senate, and was the Faculty Distance Education Mentor.

Diaz holds a doctoral degree in Education, specializing in Computing and Information Technology, from Nova Southeastern University (NSU). He completed both his MA and BA degrees from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. Diaz has served as a consultant for many statewide technology initiatives, including the California State Chancellor's Office (grant reader, TTAC, TTIP task forces), the California Virtual Campus (campus mentor, advisory committee), and the @ONE project (team member, subject matter expert). He has also served on the statewide Technology Committee for the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges.

In July of 2000, Diaz received the NSU Research Excellence Award for his outstanding research in online learning. In 1998, he was recipient of the Outstanding Achievement for Technology in Education award by the Community College Foundation.

The instructional Web site Diaz has created for his traditional and online classes have also garnered awards, including the Exemplary Online Teaching Site: Honorable Mention (California Virtual Campus, 2000) and the Model Multisensory Showcase Award (Community College Foundation, 1998).
