Carole A. Barone is vice president of EDUCAUSE, where her responsibilities include a focus on the National Learning Infrastructure Initiative (NLII) and teaching and learning. Before joining EDUCAUSE in 1998, she was associate vice chancellor for information technology at the University of California at Davis, and prior to that she was vice president for information systems and computing at Syracuse University. She holds masters and PhD degrees from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University.

Barone speaks and writes extensively on the relationship between technology and change. She co-edited Technology-Enhanced Teaching and Learning: Leading and Supporting the Transformation on Your Campus, published by Jossey Bass in 2001 as Volume 5 in the EDUCAUSE Leadership Strategies series.
